It is our belief that ministry to the hearts of people is not simply for a selected few, but is needed by many individuals in the Body of Christ. Many believers have not discovered how to walk in freedom and manifest the "fruit of the Spirit" (Gal. 5:22,23) in their relationships with others and with the Lord (though they may have tried for years). Instead, they find themselves falling into patterns of striving, discouragement, and condemnation. They often have tried to forget and ignore the past, rather than let the Holy Spirit search the innermost parts of their heart and allow the Lord to "clean the inside of the cup" (Mt. 23:26). As they allow the Lord access to the deepest parts of their heart, we walk alongside them through the pain of past hurts, forgiveness of self and others, and repentance for personal sin. We therefore believe that it is not only appropriate but also necessary to encourage believers to look at their past under the direction of the Holy Spirit, particularly when their current ways of living do not edify Christ, His Church, and others.
We also are called 1) to provide individuals with spiritual direction, guidance
and discipleship. This is important for new believers who have experienced emotional
and spiritual healing through the counseling process, as well as for mature Christians
and leaders seeking prayerful guidance in their calling or in current spiritual and
emotional struggles; 2) to “turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the
hearts of the children to the fathers” (Mal. 4:6), and to see the next generation
of young men and women come into their God- |
