Note from Jerry and Denise: "Brokenness" is not a message frequently shared in churches, as it often opposes our "western mindset" of independence and self-sufficiency. It is, however, one of the most important truths that Christians need to understand and live out accordingly. As with so many "paradoxes" that exist in Scripture, knowing and acknowledging our weakness and our needs opens the door for God's strength to work in and through us. One of our life Scriptures is 2 Corinthians 12:9 - But he [Jesus] answered me,“My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness." [Paul responds] "So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me."
We recently viewed an excellent message by Billy Humphrey called "The Glory of Brokenness," and we wanted to share it with you. For those of you who are unaware, Billy founded and has been the Director of the International House of Prayer (IHOP)-Atlanta since its inception over 13 years ago. IHOP is a missions base for those seeking to fulfill the calling of being a worship and prayer missionary and is a place of 24/7 worship and prayer. Billy is also a co-pastor at New Bridge Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. For more information on Billy and IHOP-Atlanta/New Bridge, click HERE.
